What is the Koisaan Cultural Village (KCV)?

The Koisaan Cultural Village is a living museum, combining traditional and contemporary cultures. It also shows the lifestyles in both modern and traditional architectural settings and offers immersive experiences through traditional performances, arts, and cultural activities.

KCV is also a tourism destination that has been operating as a student tourism and research centre since 2018.

Where is the village located?

Our cultural village is situated in the heart of the Penampang district.

What are the opening hours?

A: Our cultural village is open every day, from 9 AM-5 PM, with a lunch break between 1 PM to 2 PM. For public holidays, please refer to our website or social media for any updates as changes may occur from time to time. 

We also advised you to call our Customer Service Hotline in advance at 011 2534 3062 to confirm availability for the day.

What is the entrance fee?

The entrance fee is RM55 for Adults (Malaysian) and RM65 for Adults (International).

How long is the tour?

The standard tour at Koisaan Cultural Village typically lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. However, there are no time limits, visitors may roam around the village even after the tour.



What activities are available for visitors?

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including (not limited to):

  • Be welcomed with a traditional music performance – Gong
  • Interactive Sumazau & Magunatip dance
  • Traditional Fire-starting Demonstration
  • Demonstration/sampling on BBQ Butod (Sago Grubs)
  • Play slingshot (Momolositik)
  • Become a warrior for the day and learn how to blowpipe (Monopuk)
  • Jump away in our traditional trampoline from the Murut Tribe (Lansaran)
  • Cultural tours and storytelling
  • Interactive demonstrations of Indigenous tools and practices.
  • Traditional crafts and food for sale
  • Traditional massage services available (prior booking required)
Are there guided tours?

Yes, guided tours are available. 

We have 2 sessions here in KCV:
Our morning session is from 9:30AM – 12PM, and our afternoon session is from 2:30PM – 5PM. Our knowledgeable guides provide insight into the history, culture, and customs of the local communities.

Is food available in the village?

Only food samples are available. For your information, lunch is not automatically included in the standard tour, but you can add a traditional meal experience to your tour package for an additional fee. If you’d like to include lunch, simply request it when booking your tour, preferably 3 days prior.

What do I put as the address if I were to use an e-hailing app?

Simply search for “Koisaan Cultural Village – KDCA” on your preferred rideshare app, and it will guide you directly to the entrance.

What is the payment method?

We accept mobile payment platforms (Maybank, Touch N Go, Instant Bank Transfer, Alipay) and cash payments. Card payments are not available.

Is photography allowed?

Yes, visitors are welcome to take photos, but please be respectful during cultural ceremonies and performances. Flash photography may not be permitted in certain areas.

What should I wear when visiting the village?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking. If attending specific ceremonies, modest clothing may be appreciated.

Are there facilities for children and families?

Yes, the village is family-friendly with activities designed for all ages.

Does the village host special events?

Yes, we host special events throughout the year, including our annually celebrated Harvest Festival (Tadau Kaamatan), cultural exhibitions, and seasonal celebrations. Check our website or social media for the latest updates on upcoming events.

Can I book the village for a private event or tour?

Yes, the village can be booked for private events such as school trips, corporate team-building activities, or cultural concerts.

Can tours be customized?

Yes, tours can be tailored to your interests! Whether you want to focus on traditional art, cuisine, or historical aspects, we can create a personalized experience for you.



Are there restrooms and other facilities?

Yes, public restrooms, vending machines and basic facilities are available throughout the village.



Is there any parking available for visitors?

Yes, free parking is available on-site for visitors.

Is the village accessible for people with disabilities?

We strive to make the village accessible to all visitors. We provide wheelchairs, special-need restrooms and designated parking. Please contact us in advance if you have specific accessibility needs.
